I used to ship, but (no offense to those who do) it started to seem pointless and silly to me.
I mean really.... "Characters X and Y could be IN LOVE! It's SOOO CUTE!" Umm, no it isn't. It's just fictional romance!

Well, I can't not ship. I'm hopelessly romantic, and in almost every series i see, I have to find at least one ship. But it gets tiring after a while; I sometimes wish there was a ship switch, so I could just switch it of. But until then, I continue to ship...

Sometimes I wish I could get interested in ships. But I can't.

Me too, its pretty pathetic, since I dont even have a boyfriend. (even though there is this boy I like) Also, being a 3/4 shipper is what got me into KND.

I raise my hand along with you, Shwoo. Although I'll admit there are some pairigns I like or like more than others, and refuse to read certain fics depending on the pairing, I'm not a huge shipper, either. The majority of the video games and tv shows and such I like are for more reasons than because of some OTP or whatever.
But, in my POV at least, it seems shipping is the only reason many folks like a show/movie/book/game/etc...

Yeah. It's seems really silly to hate a character because their presence makes a detail you'd like to be canon more difficult.
And it's even sillier to try and boycott a book because the author didn't pair up the characters you'd like them to be paired up with.
Please don't interpret that to mean I have a problem with shippers. I have a problem with rabid shippers who apparently think about nothing else.

Before coming onto this board, I didn't even know shipping existed. I was completely suprised to find that it is a large reason, if not the central one, why people watch certain shows. I never gave much thought to 3/4 initially, except finding it cute when it happened. I started lurking here, and WHOAMG! it nearly causes civil war. When I registered, I tried to stay out of the romance section as much as possible, but sometimes I can't help but get pulled in.
For KND and other fandoms, I have some ideas on pairings I like, and they're mostly canon anyway. Still, I don't obsess over it or try to force couples that don't exist in the show, and if I write fanfics, the romance takes a backseat to the action.

Yeah. It's seems really silly to hate a character because their presence makes a detail you'd like to be canon more difficult. Wanting the canon to be any different from how its writers made it is pretty silly in general, unless the canon sucks (Star Wars) but even then, people should just take it for what it is, warts and all. This is why I don't like to get into shows that are still running. Otherwise known as the "people who envision themselves as charactar A and want to date character B." Still, I don't obsess over it or try to force couples that don't exist in the show, and if I write fanfics, the romance takes a backseat to the action. When I wrote fanfics for Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, I had told myself right from the beginning that there would never be romance in my fanfics. For the most part, there wasn't (and there was none whatsoever between canon characters). I wish I had followed that same reasoning when writing for KND.

I don't think all rabid shippers are like that, just most. I have absolutely no evidence to back that up.

Yeah. It's seems really silly to hate a character because their presence makes a detail you'd like to be canon more difficult. Yeah, I never understood that. I am a shipper, to a certain degree, but I've never been under any delusions that just 'cause I liked something it was/was going to be OMG SO CANON!!!112. 'Course, I like almost any pairing anybody can come up with, if they can write it well and explain themselves, so maybe that's it.

I do ship. Yep, like crazy. However, I stopped being all crazed over a couple in the KND fandom (except wally/kenny, but it is a tad different). But as shwoo said, the "OMG!CANON!MEH HATEZ DAT GURL'S GUTZ COS SHE IZ BAAAD 4 TEH COUPLEZ" is simply silly and immature.

What do you all mean by ship?

Shipping=Relationshipping.
A shipper is someone who likes a couple. The first definition I read of the word was something like "Someone who cares more about a fiction relationship than their own," but that would be rabid shipping.
Did you hear about the crazed Harry/Hermione shipper's reactions to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince? One of them started a petition to ban book seven or change it to H/Hr or something.
