Well, yea, most of the jokes on this topic have fallen into the predictable pattern of having characters speak against their canonical personality (Hoagie saying "I hate flying" etc.) The idea of a Rainbow Monkey becoming a biker is certainly much funnier than that. |

I gave Operation:CONFESS constructive criticism.
Now, if I had said "God this sucks don't ever write another fanfic again!" I could understand why you and FT are so upset. But I didn't. I pointed out flaws and offered suggestions. I've done this before but FT is the first person to ever get offended at this, and is certainly the first to ever accuse me of "bullying."
When you do any creative work, and release it to the public, you're freeing that same public to say what they will about it, and not everything they say is going to be good. There is no rule, ANYWHERE, that says I'm allowed to give you nothing but praise. This forum's own rules say that constructive criticism of fanfics is okay, as long as I don't flame the couple or the author (which I didn't).
Finally, making constructive criticism that an author happened to not like is a far different thing from making an off-topic post just to bash another poster.
And now, as for this topic itself... I was under the impression that "Things characters would never say" were supposed to be funny. If we're just naming things the characters would never say, then yea, Hoagie saying "I hate flying" or Nigel saying "I hate work" is perfectly acceptable. But then again, if that stuff is valid, then what's the point of this topic anyway?
