Fun with cell-phone cameras:
Did you know cell-phone cameras are sensitive to infrared rays? Just point your cellphone-camera to an remote control (the little lamp-like gizmo near the front) and then push a button (say, volume up). You should see a bright burst of light. This also works if you point the camera at a really hot object[1].
