Note- This idea is based a lot on Operation: A.R.C.H.I.V.E. If you have not seen that episode, this will not make sence to you.

In the beginning, there were only kids, and for a while that was enough. But kids soon grew lazy, and thus decided to create a new race to do their bidding: adults. But adults were not happy serving the kids every whim, and a great battle erupted between the kids and the adults. The adults won, and the kids fled to the moon. After a time, the adults missed the kids, and the kids missed the adults, so a truce was formed where kids and adults could live together in harmony: families. And for a while, it was good again.
Eventually kids became envious of the adults position of power in these families. Kids began to voice their discontent and refused to obey adults. In response, adults invented punishments such as groundings and time-outs to discourage the kids from opposing them. Knowing they would never in charge of the family units, kids everywhere came together and formed a plan to rid themselves of the adults forever. This would be recorded as the greatest mistake kids ever made.
A virus was formed that would only effect the adults. Its purpose was to destroy the adults through a slow deterioration called aging. The aging effect would slowly weaken the adults over years, so as not to draw attention to itself until every adult was infected. Ten kids were chosen to spread the virus across the world. Their actions were simple: eat in public restaurants, shop in large stores, visit any place they could infect large groups of adults without being caught. Years past, and the disease took its effect on the adults. They aged into a third race: elderly. The elderly began to lose the skills that made adults superior to kids, and kids began to believe things were about to go back to the way it started: one race.. kids. They were very wrong.
The virus itself had aged and changed over time too. Now it not only effected the adults, but it also effected the kids. The ten chosen to spread the disease were the first to age. The ten agers, or teenagers as their race would be called, were shunned by both kids and adults. Feeling alone and misunderstood, the teenagers locked themselves in their rooms and blasted loud music so no one could hear their plans.
Kids lacked the skill required to cure the disease, and adults lacked the imagination to conceive it, but teenagers still had the imaginations of kids and were gaining the skills of adults. They figured out what would cure the virus and stop the aging process. But the ingredients were limited, and there was not enough for both kids and adults. Having felt abandoned by the kids, the teenagers turned to the adults and offered them the cure in exchange for a place in the adults’ world. The kids found out about this deal and ambushed the meeting in an attempt to steal the cure for themselves. But unfortunately for all, the teenagers not only had the good qualities of both kid and adult, but they also had the bad qualities. With an adult-like desire for vengeance and a kid-like rush to action, the teenagers destroyed the antidote so no one could have it.
Eventually, the four races met to discuss and plan to save themselves from destruction, and a solution came in the form of a fifth race: babies. The adults would create babies. The babies would become kids. The kids would become teenagers. The teenagers would become adults. And the adults would become elderly.
And again, it was good... for a while.
